The Asian crisis that crippled the country's economy in 1998 gave South Korea experience in recovering from economic crisis. South Korea plans on using the gap created by the slow recovery of the US and other countries to their advantage, to become a“respected global soft power with the clout to mediate between rich and poor nations on global issues such as climate change and financial regulation.” South Korea’s government and economic system are models for other Asian countries, because their economic and political growth and an increasingly well-established multiparty democracy that respects free speech and election results.

Its interesting to me that South Korea is doing so well economically right now. You always hear about China and Japan and how they are so strong and the leaders in Asia but it seems like South Korea isn't too far behind.
I also think that it's so interesting that South Korea's economy is doing so well compared to its northern neighbor. I think it's a case study in government and economic conditions.
